How Game of Thrones Battle of Bastards (Spoiler Alert!!)

It's weird for me talking about Game of Thrones, I'm one of the 2% of the population (fake statistics, obviously) who doesn't follow the popular series. Nevertheless, whenever I see cool CGI effects with crazy tech involved I always get hyped. The series is no stranger to crazy epic battles but it seems last night's "Battle of the Bastards" was on another whole new level. It was all due to a perfect combination of practical effects and CG skills.

Once Again, Spoiler Alert...

The Director of the series Miguel Sapochnik decided to rely on a specialized remote controlled camera rig a.k.a Russian Arm which was placed on top a Land Rover to capture horses running at full speed. The VFX Artists also had to implement heavy-duty crowd replication effects to turn hundreds of the extras involved to thousands.

There were also digital effects  employed in the battle including the scene were swarm of arrows filled and fell from the sky. Some composite effects  was also used to safely show things like soldiers flying off horses.

These are just a few examples of the hardwork these filmmakers put into creating life like scenes which always captures our interest. Also, the wonderful shot of Jon Snow fighting through a large group of enemy soldiers on a horseback was completely real.
