It's official, starting from the 22nd of August 2016, Google has begun rolling out Android 7.0 to Nexus devices. Android 7.0 will be named after Nougat, a sweet treat made with sugar, roasted nuts, and sometimes chopped candied fruits. The name was picked after Google allowed fans for the first time enter a poll to submit a preferred name for the OS and unveiling the choice in style via Snapchat.

Android 7.0 promises to be the best Android update yet, with the developer preview released as early as March. There are over 250 major updates in the new Android version which is a massive upgrade on the last version Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Some of the new updates includes New Emoji set, Multi Window support, Doze 2.0 etc.

=> Doze 2.0: One of the best features I loved on Android 6.0 is the Doze Battery saving feature. It optimizes your battery usage and extends your battery life for longer periods. Android 7.0 comes with an upgraded version of the Doze which optimizes your battery on the go. Your device goes to low power usage as soon as the screen is switched off.

=> New Notifications and Quick Settings Tray: Notifications from the same App are now bundled together in a unique way, allowing you reply on the go without opening the app. The new quick settings tray is fully customisable and you can select and arrange the quick settings you want.

=> New Data Saver feature: If there's anything Android users dread, it's the alarming rate at which data is consumed by background apps. The new data saver feature limits how much data apps use and blocks background apps from using your data.

=> New Security Features: These include File based encryption, Direct boot and Seamless updates. All these are designed to help you keep your data private and protected.

Other Cool New Features:
=> New JIT compiler
=> VR Mode (Watch out for this)
=> Settings Suggestions
=> Emergency Information
=> Lockscreen Wallpaper

Android 7.0 Nougat

Android 7.0 promises to be the sweetest Android yet with all these cool new exciting features. The LG V20 which will be released soon will be the first phone to run Android Nougat out of the box. It is also expected to be the first phone to showcase the new VR mode officially.

I am very excited with the release of Android 7.0 Nougat and I hope it doesn't take too long before my Infinix Hot 2 (Android One) gets the official update. Watch out for my full list of devices getting the Android Nougat update officially and when to expect them.
